This website has been officially retired as the virtual home of the Massac Soccer Boosters. The new website home is: https://massacsoccer.leagueapps.com (click link to navigate to this site).
Through 2009 and over 40,000 views, this website has seen many noteworthy landmarks in the brief but dynamic journey of soccer in Metropolis/Massac County community. This briefly includes:
* Grassroots and formal structure of the Massac Soccer Boosters organization in 2007
* Study & presentation to Massac County Unit 2 School Board in March 2009 for introduction of boys & girls scholastic soccer to MCHS as official sports. This was approved and the first season begun in Fall 2011.
* Organization and management of the Massac Youth Soccer League (MYSL) in Fall 2011. First games were "under the lights" at Civitan Soccer Fields.
* Opening of the beautiful 20-acre Metropolis Soccer Complex facility in Fall 2012 with the first home High School game (vs. Ballard Co. (KY)). Opening ceremonies prior to the boys game honored those from City of Metropolis, Massac Unit 2, and the Massac Soccer Boosters that helped contributed to making day possible.
* Opening ceremonies of the remainder of the Metropolis Soccer Complex facility in Fall 2014 for MYSL youth soccer games which continues to serve as the present home of MYSL, MCHS, & MCJHS.
* Multiple youth tournaments (3v3 Live & Metropolis Super Soccer Classic Tournaments) along with numerous Youth Massac All-Star games has brought in travel teams & guests to Metropolis has been played at the Complex
* MCHS has hosted several IHSA Boys & Girls Regional tournament play at the Metropolis Soccer Complex and home of the Soccer Patriots & Lady Soccer Patriots.
* Discussion & presentation to Massac County Unit 2 school Board in Jan 2017 to pursue Boys & Girls Jr High scholastic soccer at MCJHS. This won support and the first season in S2019. MCJHS plays within the KY Region One Middle School League and MCJHS represents the first of any far-south Illinois Junior High Schools offering soccer as an official sport.
Thanks for the past support of Massac Soccer Boosters. It has been exciting journey representing many tireless efforts over the years from many dedicated folks. Much more to do & the best is yet to come!

The SIMSS 5th-6th grade game previously announced to be made-up on Wednesday May 19 has been once again been cancelled by the visiting team & no re-scheduled game will be made up.
UPDATE May 14 10:30am:
The scheduled SIMSS 5th-6th grade game v. Carterville for Friday May 14 has been CANCELLED per request from the visiting team just this morning. Game has been re-scheduled for Wednesday May 19 @ 5:30pm. Sorry for any inconvenience this may of caused.

MYSL Spring 2021 REGISTRATION has been closed
The Massac Youth Soccer League Spring 2021 registration period was conducted until the official deadline of Saturday February 20. Registrations for S2021 was for ages PreK thru 8th grade.
Thanks to all that registered & we look forward to fun & exciting spring soccer season for MYSL. All registrations are being processed, Head Coaches attempted to be secured for each team, & teams soon to be formed per our team formation procedures. You'll be hearing from your head coach tentatively planned around the 2nd week of March.

MYSL 3v3 Play Offering in 2020 & Rules Posted
The MYSL is planning to offer combinations of 3v3 and 9v9 scrimmage play as part of the regular scheduling for our 5th-6th and 7th-8th grade age-groups for 2020 MYSL season. Tentative plans are to alternative scrimmage schedules each weekend for each age-group between 3v3 and the 9v9 style of play.
Though we have had some of our players & parents exposed to 3v3 style of play in 3v3 Live Tourneys held in the past at Metropolis - 3v3 challenges players requiring more speed, considerable constant movement, and understanding of positioning required than "traditional" large size field play. 3v3 style of play offers not only an exciting mix of scrimmage play but also will develop individual skills and positioning related to other players like no other. Concepts learned and applied at 3v3 - makes much better players when switching back to full-size field style of game play.

Massac Soccer Boosters Statement for Upcoming Fall 2020 Season
As with all things, COVID has impacted nearly all aspects of life - which obviously includes youth soccer. As before the pandemic, SAFETY remains the soccer board's first and foremost priority. Safety of the players, spectators, coaches, and referees has and will remain a primary driver in all of our decisions.
After much research & debate into various health impacts along with thorough review of Illinois Youth Soccer Association regulations & guidelines - we have decided to proceed to conduct a fall soccer season but stay within full compliance with these state rules.
There will be modifications for this season so to be in compliance and we be allowed to have a season & get on the pitch again. This includes how we form rec teams, no all-star travel teams, no tournaments of any sort including our end-of-season rec tourney, along with games becoming "scrimmages".
This also includes being ready to shut down parts of the league if cases occur in order to maintain safety for all. Things will be different - we know and we may all have to adapt and change things as we go. We ask for your full cooperation, patience, and you do YOUR active part to help us keep everybody stay safe and be in compliance with the rules.
We're eager to see the kids back on the green grass and playing soccer again - we know the kids are more than ready to get back at it again and play as Pele calls it, soccer the "beautiful game".

Some of GAME RULES will change starting in F2020
FIFA, the international governing body for all of soccer) has implemented several new rule changes that impacts the rules at all age levels of play. This will also impact the rules that MYSL will play by. Modifications to our local rules, based on US Youth Soccer recommendations, has also been implemented.

City National Bank (CNB) Super Soccer Classic Tournament
Due to 2020 State of Illinois & Illinois Youth Soccer Association health regulations & restrictions against tournament play - the F2020 CNB Super Soccer Classic Tournament will be CANCELLED. The Massac Soccer Boosters look forward to again host this Rec All-Star tournament in the fall of 2021.
Here is the story line about our first tourney held in Fall 2019 and the great day we had:
Our 1st Annual CNB Super Soccer Classic was a fun day of soccer & successfully hosted by the Massac Soccer Boosters on Oct 19, 2019 in Metropolis. Congratulations & thanks to all team participants from last fall.
The CNB Super Soccer Classic is an one-day all-star recreational tournament for 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, & 7th-8th grade teams for surrounding area teams. It is played during the fall seasons. It is designed to have teams from "smaller-town" programs participate. This so to provide opportunities to grow + encourage these particular area all-star program teams with possibly more comparative & equal competition. The tournament is invitation-only and due to being an one-day event - number of teams per age-division is limited.

MYSL ALL-STAR Teams FALL Practice Schedule
In compliance with COVID regulations, the MYSL ALL-STARS are CANCELLED and will not be organized for F2020. We will however provide practice & scrimmage opportunities through the MYSL recreational league format through the 8th grade. We hope to again offer ALL-STAR play opportunities starting again in S2021 for 3rd thru 6th grade with the 7th-8th graders playing for Massac Junior High School.
Here is the general all-star info from season's past:
MYSL 3rd-4th & 5th-6th grade ALL-STAR teams will tentatively have the following practice schedule EVERY MONDAY night through the season. All practices are at Civitan Soccer Practice Fields.
TBA for 5th-6th Grade All-Stars
TBA for 3rd-4th Grade All-Stars
This practice schedule is subject to possible changes which include possible rain-outs. Changes will be communicated directly to team parents through your designated parent assistant coach with the team. The head coaches for these teams are former HS players and will lead practices & be game-day coaches.
Head Coaching duties are currently will be jointly done for all teams.
